Kerbside appeal – but not quite Chelsea Flower Show!

So, despite Wes and Rosa (our new neighbours) being rather surprised at my request for an old metal garden chair as a project for the front garden, they came up trumps when visiting their son who was throwing out an old garden chair!

Having sanded the chair Chris then measured it professionally by drawing a circle around a plant pot and increasing the size so the pot fitted further into the chair seat.

A few minutes later the seat had been cut out and a hole was now ready for the plant pot.

Look how careful my husband is now - he even put down a sheet of DPC under the garden chair in order to paint it. Shortly our shabby chair was resplendently painted in Hammerite black.

Not quite Chelsea Flower Show but a good attempt. As you all know, the RHS has started a campaign to green our front gardens so we are doing our bit - we already inherited a concreted front garden but with the recycled slate from the roof, new paint on the railings and an up-cycled previously unwanted garden chair I think we are making a promising start. Plenty of drive by appeal here.
